Michigan Apples

Michigan is the 2nd largest producer of apples in the USA. In West Michigan there is literally an apple farm on every corner out in the countryside! Many of these family owned farms open up in September and October for “U Pick”. Ed Dunneback and Girls Farm has been in business for almost a century and they grow over 16 varieties of apples!

Every year we venture out into the orchard to select apples to bring home and turn in to pies, crumbles, and applesauce! Our favorite two varieties are Jonagold and Empire. At the farm there is a small bakery and store. It’s nice to eat a homemade pumpkin or apple cinnamon donut and drink freshly squeezed apple cider!

Mmmm donuts and cider: Liam and Turah were unable to join us this year in the orchard due to school and work.

We picked a bushel of apples!
